Cemeteries aren't typically on my list of landscape painting locations, but the afternoon sun on the stones and trees made me hit the brakes and go back for another look. A friend came by and stayed while I finished, and offered a beer to celebrate. He had earlier walked among the markers, and noticed that some dated back nearly 200 years. Thankfully, I chose to stop and record a significant piece of local history.
